Our Summer Services

If you’ve always wanted to explore a topic that’s an interest, a passion or a curiosity but you might not feel comfortable trying it out at a regular worship service during the September to June congregational year, then the Worship Committee has a tremendous opportunity just waiting for you!

During the summer, we have lay-led informal Sunday worship at Locke St. at 9:30 a.m.  These gatherings tend to be small and participatory, or not, depending on the subject, and last an hour, or less. The leader usually introduces the subject with some readings or material to stimulate thoughts and opinions and those in attendance take it from there.
Nothing is mandated–participation can be active or passive.  Past services have included presentations on birds, tarot cards, anger, values, poetry, jazz, globalization, gratitude, our ancestors, mentors, meditation—see what we mean?

There is a notebook of outlines and possible topics [pdf]  along with suggested activities and/or readings available at Locke St. and online.  We hope to host services beginning June 23rd through August 25th so there are 9 possible dates for you (see dates below).  If you are interested in doing a service, check the schedule and sign up here — or email or call Thea Shapiro- dre@uuandover.org .

July 7  – No Service
