Self Defense for the Complete Novice

We are pleased to offer  self-defense classes for novices on the second Wednesday of every month at 7PM. These  classes are open to the community. Donations are welcome.

We will talk about and practice a few basic self-defense techniques that can be used with no prior experience of any kind. Please wear clothing and shoes in which you can move easily; we will remove all jewelry, watches, etc. before starting, so you might not want to wear these at all. The lesson is meant to be instructive and useful, but we also want to have a lot of fun. There will be something for all ages and abilities.

Anyone can join in at any time as we will always spend some time going over basics.  Can never have enough of those!  Lessons will build to some extent and there will be new content from time to time.

To ensure everyone’s comfort, enjoyment and safety, we  must enforce a limit of  10 students per session.  Please arrive a few minutes early.

Your instructor, Karin Fuog, has been training in martial arts for more than 14 years, earning her fourth degree black belt in Karate, as well as some Judo, Aikido and Ju-Jitsu. Karin has taught in several dojos as well as running a dojo in Kentucky. When teaching self-defense, she emphasizes first learning to analyze the situation, then applying appropriate technique, and finally, practicing the will to execute technique.

Our building is located on 6 Locke Street, just steps away from Main Street in Andover’s town center.

Directions  and Where to Park

The minimum age to participate is 13.  Anyone under 18 will need a parent or guardian to sign for them.  We will require ID or birth certificate as proof of age for everyone so that we know who can sign for themselves and who needs a parent/guardian signature. Signed release forms are required. You  can print and bring them with you; we’ll also have forms available before the class starts.
