Sunday Service: Yom Kippur

David Hastings, who serves as the  “Chazzan” [aka “Cantor”] for Havurat Shalomin Andover, leads our Yom Kippur service on Sunday, September 19 at 10:30am. David will offer a  modern interpretation of Yom Kippur,  and talk about the rituals involved in the observance of Yom Kippur as well  as  the relevance of Yom Kippur in 2010.
He has  performed ritual ceremonies, including weddings and baby namings. David is the husband of Linda Vasconcellos and father of Zoe Vasconcellos, Alia Vasconcellos and Hannah Vasconcellos Hastings. His professional life is as the director of administration for the department of genetics and complex diseases at the Harvard School of Public Health, principal of Managing Excellence [a consulting firm], and adjunct professor of management at Tufts University teaching in the US and the UAE.  Nights  he is the trombonist for The Jazz Disciples, a gospel/swing/Dixieland group out of South Church in Andover.
