Description: Lazarus House invites you to join the 10th annual Hike for Hope on Sunday, October 4. Enjoy a fun
afternoon while helping others by walking 1 or 5 miles, and then celebrate your accomplishment
with food and festivities. Held at Merrimack College, the event raises awareness for homelessness
and the need for affordable housing, and provides funds to support the families living in transitional
housing while working to improve their lives.
Create a team, join a team, walk or be a volunteer. Over the past nine years, thousands of
walkers, donors, volunteers and sponsors brought a dream to reality by supporting the Lazarus
House Transitional Housing Program. In the fall of 2007, Lazarus House opened Capernaum Place,
a 20-unit complex, to serve as the bridge between homelessness and permanent housing.
It is a beautiful, loving home where people who were homeless can enjoy safe, secure housing
while they attain the life skills necessary to live independent and productive lives. The Hike is the
main funding source for the comprehensive support services including advocacy, personalized case
management, life skills education, economic training and independent living skills. Capernaum
Place also provides a nurturing environment for those that make up the largest population of
homeless in the state – children.
When you join the Hike for Hope and raise funds for transitional housing, you assist earnest
families in improving their lives and break the cycle of poverty for future generations.
