Opening Sunday: Water Communion

Posted by UUCiA

Join us for our Opening Sunday and our traditional “Water Communion” service. This  intergenerational service will be led by Rev. Lara Hoke on Sunday, September 11 at 10:30am. [Directions]

A Water Communion is a gathering ceremony traditionally done at the UUCiA (and often used in Unitarian Universalist congregations across the country on “homecoming” Sundays). All are invited to bring a small quantity of water to the service, sharing why the water is special or representative of the summer.  As the UUA website puts it, “The combined water is symbolic of our shared faith coming from many different sources.” It will be wonderful to be together again, and to meet new friends.

We will also commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11 as part of the service.

Harvest Wine Tasting

Posted by UUCiA

Earth Circle CUUPS invites you to a Mabon Harvest Wine Tasting.

We invite you to join us as we sample a variety of delicious wines from around the world.  Which wines are best paired with which foods?  White wine or red for dinner?  Which $15 bottle tastes comparable to a $75 bottle?  How much fun would it be to learn about and sample luscious wines as well as feast on breads, cheeses, fruits and chocolates?

If these questions intrigue you (more…)

Habitat Volunteer Day

Posted by UUCiA

On October 15, we will participate in Merrimack Valley Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build Program, where women are instructed in the skills needed to do the tasks of the day, and then work together in women-only teams. Men are welcome to volunteer on October 15 too! There will be other work aside from the women-only teamwork. A sign-up sheet will be available in September.  For more information, contact Carol Rougvie.

Summer Services

Posted by Worship Committee

Our summer services are lay-led, begin at 9:30 a.m. and last about an hour.  Although there is a theme and material for discussion, the services are informal and may be participatory. The leader for the morning may present some particular interest or passion, a new way of looking at an old idea or an old way of examining a new theme–the intent is to gather in community, relax and perhaps share a different type of worship experience.
There will be no service on Sunday, July 3.

Upcoming services will be led by:
August 14 Eric Lundquist: Getting My Kicks At Lawrence Youth Soccer

  • August 21 Georgia Renfroe
  • August 28  Veronica Morris
  • September 4 no service (Labor Day weekend)

Anyone interested in filling the two open dates, please contact Nancy Mulvey.  There are outlines and suggested topics available.
