Association Sunday: Your Excellent Adventure

Posted by UUCiA
On Sunday, November 6, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Lara Hoke will lead our annual Association Sunday.  This year’s theme is “excellence in ministry”.  Our own twist this year will be: “What about the ministry of the UUCiA has been excellent for you?”  [Please note: ministry" here refers to shared ministry, the ministry that we all do (not just the professional minister!).]  Please come prepared to share, if you are willing, a very brief snapshot of what drew you in to the UUCiA, and what continues to draw you.  In addition to being a celebration of our ministry together, it will be a celebration of what makes Unitarian Universalism powerful for us.  We will also take a special collection for the UUA’s Association Sunday “excellence in ministry” programming.

Lost Soul Behavior

Posted by UUCiA
On Sunday, November 13, at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Lara Hoke will preach a sermon entitled “Lost Soul Behavior”.  November can be a bleak month, with bare trees and lots of gray skies.  Maybe it even makes some of us feel a little lonely, or even lost.  Lara will examine the phenomenon of  ”lost person behavior”, part of any “search and rescue” team’s expertise, and consider what it might teach us about feeling lost spiritually, or lost in life.

United Nations Sunday

Posted by UUCiA
October 23, 10:30 a.m. “United Nations Sunday” Rev. Lara Hoke will lead a United Nations Sunday service, the Unitarian Universalist celebration of the founding of the United Nations on October 24th, 1945. According to the Unitarian Universalist United Nations Office (UU-UNO) website, “In celebration of this annual event, the UU-UNO invites congregations and individual UUs to deepen their understanding of the United Nations by devoting one service in October to reaffirming the connections between UU principles and vital issues dealt with at the UN.” Among other things, we will consider the role of the UN in light of the Occupy Movement. The service will include a congregational reflection. Please join us!
